Iraq

Over four years ago, President Bush plunged our military into Iraq without any credible plan to win the peace. With the support of Republican members of Congress, the President has pursued policies in Iraq that have failed this nation time and time again. Many of those same Republican members continue to follow the President’s lead and advocate for our continued involvement in Iraq’s escalating civil war. I disagree with the President and his Republican supporters and believe it is time for a new direction.  Learn More

Veterans

Living close to bases like Ft. Dix, McGuire, and Lakehurst, John Adler knows the importance of standing up for our veterans and active duty military personnel. For far too long, politicians in Washington have continued to provide lackluster support for our brave men and women in uniform. While our returning troops suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in record numbers, the Bush administration, which was so quick in going to war, has been too slow in helping our troops. While tremendous strides have been made since Democrats took control of Congress in 2006, not enough is being done, and as a member of Congress, John Adler will bring leadership to Washington that New Jersey&# 8217;s veterans deserve.  Learn More

The Economy

Over the course of the Bush administration, a handful of Americans have prospered while the middle class has suffered. Too many hardworking families are struggling to make ends meet and are frustrated with the direction of the country. Quality of life is declining for too many Americans. We must turn back the failed policies of the Bush administration and grow our economy in a way that promotes opportunity and keeps the promise of the American dream alive for all hard-working Americans. Energy

With gas prices soaring to unimaginable heights, Washington is obligated to take immediate action to protect the American people. It is simply unacceptable to stand by as this crisis gets worse by the day. John knows that we must take action NOW. We must implement an energy plan that will drastically reduce our dependence on foreign oil, bring down the price of gas and create new jobs and businesses.  Learn More

Education

The future of our state and our country depends on our children and their education. As the pace of globalization increases, our children will have to compete with the rest of the world for the best jobs. The No Child Left Behind Act was established to make sure that our public schools educate our children for the 21st century and give them the tools for success. Unfortunately, the President has failed to provide adequate funding to implement No Child Left Behind, and New Jersey property taxpayers have been stuck with the bill. In fact, No Child Left Behind funding shortfalls have reached almost $1.5 billion annually in New Jersey alone.   Learn More

Environment

We Americans have a proud history of rising to meet great challenges. John Adler wants to help meet the challenge of global warming and lead America into a cleaner, greener future. Protecting the environment often seems complicated, but the easy part is understanding that the earth is our home, and it's the only home we have. For the past eight years, George Bush has promised to move to cleaner forms of energy. Despite his promises, Bush has always walked hand-in-hand with Big Oil. The American people are eager for leadership and progress on these issues. John Adler understands that there can be no compromise when it comes to clean air, clean water, and green spaces. As a member of Congress, John will fight for these basic concepts the same way he has fought for them in the New Jersey Senate, with the ability to see what needs to be done and to make it happen.  Learn More

Social Security

John Adler strongly opposes privatizing Social Security. We simply cannot risk gambling with Social Security funds on a shifting stock market. Social Security has been one of the most stable government initiatives in history, and many of our citizens are depending on its continued strength. The collapse of entities like Bear Stearns shows us that betting on Wall Street to safeguard the retirements of middle class Americans is a risky endeavor.   Learn More

The United States and Israel

John Adler strongly supports the historic relationship between the United States and Israel. He firmly believes that military aid to Israel is in the best interests of both the United States and of Israel. He will continue to support military aid to Israel at current and historic levels.  Learn More

Immigration

America is a country of immigrants with a proud and rich history. Unfortunately, our immigration system is broken and Washington hasn't done anything to fix it. It is critical to our country's safety and security that we seal the borders and ensure all migration is done so legally. I do not support amnesty nor do I support giving benefits that hardworking American citizens receive to illegal immigrants. I believe we need a president and a Congress who are willing to fight for immigration reform and change the status quo.   Learn More

Net Neutrality

Currently, most residents in New Jersey's 3rd Congressional district have access to only one or two Internet Broadband Providers. This relative lack of choice raises the possibility that Broadband Providers can slap a toll on content (what gets sent on the Net) and service (how fast.) This would lead to a multi-tiered Network where some Websites enjoy premium access speeds to their customers. Websites that are unwilling or unable to pay the toll would be relegated to the proverbial "slow lane."  Learn More
