The United States and Israel

John Adler has seen first-hand what the people of Israel have achieved, overcoming both natural and man-made obstacles to build a modern, tolerant, peace-loving democracy with a vibrant economy. John believes that the United States and Israel must continue working closely to strengthen and enhance their historic alliance and friendly relationship. John supports continued American foreign aid to Israel, believes in Israel's right to exist and self-defense, and is committed to support Israel in its efforts to advance peace and stability in the region. He supports a two-state solution that will allow Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in peace and prosperity.

Historic Alliance

John strongly supports the United States’ historic relationship with Israel that dates back to its creation in 1948. It's an alliance built on shared values of freedom, open democracy, and justice. John views Israel as the only democratic regime in the Middle East and strongly supports Israel's right to exist as a sovereign state. If elected to Congress, he will work to ensure Israel’s security.

Foreign Aid to Israel

Foreign aid is an essential tool of American foreign policy. For Israel, aid helps to ensure that Israel will be able to maintain its qualitative military edge over its adversaries in the region. In Congress, John will continue to support foreign aid packages that include both military assistance and funding for special projects to Israel at current and historic levels. John is also committed to preserving Israel's role as America's closest ally in the Middle East.

Iran

Preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is a global concern. John believes tough economic sanctions and divestment of funds tied to Iran, including the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, must be used to convince Iran to abandon its pursuit of a nuclear program. John supports the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act and the Iran Counter Proliferation Act which calls for such sanctions on Iran and countries that assist Iran in developing its energy infrastructure and nuclear weapons program. Additionally, John will urge the President of the United States to support efforts in the United Nations to sanction Iran.
