Immigration

America is a country of immigrants with a proud and rich history. Unfortunately, our immigration system is broken and Washington hasn't done anything to fix it. It is critical to our country's safety and security that we seal the borders and ensure all migration is done so legally. John does not support amnesty nor does he support giving benefits that hardworking American citizens receive to illegal immigrants. John believes that we need a president and a Congress who are willing to fight for immigration reform and change the status quo.

To protect American families and regulate the flow of immigrants into the United States, John knows we must first secure the borders. Every day more people illegally cross the border, making it easier for terrorists to enter our country. Keeping Americans safe must always be the Federal Government's first priority. We must therefore dedicate additional resources to enhance border security and monitoring activities.

John supports immigration reform that punishes employers who are giving American jobs to undocumented workers to save a buck. In 2005, the Bush Administration cited only three U.S. employers for hiring illegal workers. John believes that if we shut down the job opportunities, undocumented workers won’t illegally come to the United States. America should reward businesses and individuals who play by the rules and punish those who don't.

Having lived the American dream himself, John believes that the United States truly is the land of opportunity. With the passage of these common sense reforms we can begin the process of restoring the integrity of our immigration system and ensure a land of opportunity for generations to come.
